Description

The space

The apartment is in the upstairs of my house and is completely self contained. There is a well equipped kitchen and comfortable sitting area. There are two bedrooms - a double and a single, though an additional single bed for a child can be added to the single room. The building is safe and secure and well protected against fire.

Guest access

Guests have access to the apartment as well as a children's play area (at own risk) and patio, secret garden and generous green space in front of the house.

Interaction with guests

Very happy to provide advice and information about local walks, horse riding, Whiddy Island trips. Owner is resident here for 30 years.

The neighbourhood

This is an area of great natural beauty. The mountain views and walks hereabouts are very special. There are a number of ancient monuments nearby and it is a place of peace and tranquility. Also, however, there are some charming pubs as well as some superb restaurants in town. Lake and sea fishing, golf, horse and pony tracking too.

Getting around

The house is four miles from town. Although taxis are available in Bantry, to get the most of this area, a car is necessary. Cork City and Airport an hour and three quarters. Regular bus line to Bantry from Cork. Train link to Cork from Dublin. Ryanair and Aer Lingus from London, Amsterdam, Paris, etc.

Other things to note

No smoking, No pets

House Rules

No anti-social behaviour. House rules are relaxed enough on the whole provided guests behave in a peaceful and responsible way.

Pam was an excellent host. She was most helpful and gave us lots of advice on life in West Cork.

It was quite late at night when we arrived and Pam was so very helpful in meeting us in the centre of Bantry so we could follow her out of town to her lovely house, and tolerant of the late hour that we arrived. She left a beautiful loaf of soda bread and jam, butter, milk, etc., which was lovely in the morning after we arrived.

Very quiet area, yet only 5 mins away from Bantry. Pam is very friendly, she even made us welcome treats and a greeting card. Not a single thing to remark. Would recommend!

We had a lovely stay at Pams cottage, she even welcomed us with delicious selfmade scones. She even picked us up in bantry as finding the way with the coordinates didn't work. We would recommend staying at pams for everyone!

We had a very nice and peaceful stay at Pam's place. It is very well equipped, very comfortable and spacious which makes it perfect for a family with 2 young children. We felt very much at home. Pam wasn't there when we arrived but she had left some local products for us in the fridge and her daughter in law made us feel welcomed as did Pam when she arrived. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends.

Pam was very welcoming and discreet though she lives downstairs. The place si just great and comfy with everything needed available. We could easily get to the rings of Beara and Kerry, to the Killarney national park but it's also ok if you want to step outside and walk around.
