A peaceful mountain dwelling nestled on a hillside overlooking the magnificent Kootenay Lake. Peace and privacy abound in this little cabin located next to our house on 50 acres of farmland, garden and forest. Immerse yourself in natural beauty.
This is a cozy guest cabin located next to the house we live in. The kitchen has only basic features i.e.. a countertop, sink, bar fridge, hotplate and basic kitchen ware/cooking utensils. Internet access is achieved by being in close proximity to the main house and a password will be provided. If you are travelling with a young child, a portable cot or sleeping mat should be brought along with you if you need an extra sleeping space. There is also a second guest cabin next to this one that has a separate listing here on Airbnb and could be used for an older child or two if need be.
Guests are asked to remain around the cabin(s) they are renting. If you would like a tour of the grounds, let us know.
Other things to note
There are two other homes on the land that are rented out longterm to full-time residents. I like to be able to ensure that all people have their privacy which is why I ask that you stay near the cabin(s) you are renting. The barnyard is home to some friendly animals and they love people so if you visit them please do so only from over the fence. Walking up the mountain is great exercise and offers some stunning views of the lake and mountains but this is the wilderness so proceed with care and caution.
If I confirm your booking, please note the directions provided, as some guests have been mislead by GPS.
Guests are expected to behave with respect to the others who live here. Please come and go slowly up and down the driveway and look out for those that are walking their dogs or out to enjoy the weather. We allow smoking in outside areas as long as you dispose of your garbage in the proper places but under no circumstances may you smoke in the buildings. At certain times of the year we are under a strict fire ban and no open flames are allowed anywhere on site, this is in the hot summer months. Parking is available for up to two cars. Firewood is provided year round to heat the inside of the cabin and so guests are asked to keep the thermostat at a respectable level and turned off if the windows are open. For your own safety, never enter the horse fields but we welcome visits with them over the fence. Guests are also expected to treat the homes with care and leave them tidy, checking out at the scheduled time. If you are travelling with up to two small pets and one large one they may stay as long as they are friendly with other animals/people and stay off the furniture. Guests with children are welcome and I ask that you please contact me ahead of time to learn the details of the area so you can decide whether the cabin layout is suitable for your kids.
I am available to welcome you and answer questions you may have during your stay.
I love living in the countryside and chose this place for it's fresh water, stunning views, rich soil and fair weather. This property was placed under my care by a great friend who lives overseas. Aside from ourselves and some friends who rent out other homes on the land, this farm is also home to four happy horses, two adorable miniature donkeys, one friendly farm dog and a very frisky house cat. My hobbies include horseback riding, singing and painting pretty pictures. In the summer I grow food and flowers, a little more every year. I am interested in the principles of permaculture and gradually trying to implement sustainable practices in land management while remaining always a student of life.
