A peaceful mountain dwelling nestled on a hillside overlooking the magnificent Kootenay Lake. Peace and privacy abound in this little cabin located next to our house on 50 acres of farmland, garden and forest. Immerse yourself in natural beauty.

The space

This is a cozy guest cabin located next to the house we live in. The kitchen has only basic features i.e.. a countertop, sink, bar fridge, hotplate and basic kitchen ware/cooking utensils. Internet access is achieved by being in close proximity to the main house and a password will be provided. If you are travelling with a young child, a portable cot or sleeping mat should be brought along with you if you need an extra sleeping space. There is also a second guest cabin next to this one that has a separate listing here on Airbnb and could be used for an older child or two if need be.

Guest access

Guests are asked to remain around the cabin(s) they are renting. If you would like a tour of the grounds, let us know.

Other things to note

There are two other homes on the land that are rented out longterm to full-time residents. I like to be able to ensure that all people have their privacy which is why I ask that you stay near the cabin(s) you are renting. The barnyard is home to some friendly animals and they love people so if you visit them please do so only from over the fence. Walking up the mountain is great exercise and offers some stunning views of the lake and mountains but this is the wilderness so proceed with care and caution.

If I confirm your booking, please note the directions provided, as some guests have been mislead by GPS.

Guests are expected to behave with respect to the others who live here. Please come and go slowly up and down the driveway and look out for those that are walking their dogs or out to enjoy the weather. We allow smoking in outside areas as long as you dispose of your garbage in the proper places but under no circumstances may you smoke in the buildings. At certain times of the year we are under a strict fire ban and no open flames are allowed anywhere on site, this is in the hot summer months. Parking is available for up to two cars. Firewood is provided year round to heat the inside of the cabin and so guests are asked to keep the thermostat at a respectable level and turned off if the windows are open. For your own safety, never enter the horse fields but we welcome visits with them over the fence. Guests are also expected to treat the homes with care and leave them tidy, checking out at the scheduled time. If you are travelling with up to two small pets and one large one they may stay as long as they are friendly with other animals/people and stay off the furniture. Guests with children are welcome and I ask that you please contact me ahead of time to learn the details of the area so you can decide whether the cabin layout is suitable for your kids.

A great little place! The following are our comments about the place. They are not meant to be either positive or negative just facts for those booking. The place was super clean! There is only a bathtub. No shower for those that might care. The stairs going up to the loft are steep and probably not easy for older adults or small children. There is no stove or microwave but there is an induction cooktop and pots and pans. Most things can be cooked using this. (She does tell you in ad and we were expecting it). The location was great for those who enjoy the outdoors. The host was super friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience. I love the view from the deck!

This cabin is exactly as described and the website photos are accurate. It's tranquil, secluded and peaceful. A genuine rustic Canadian log cabin, it has a gorgeous deck and lofty view of Kootenay Lake, a small but perfectly functional kitchen area and a very comfy bed in the loft. Cute old-fashioned bathtub, no TV, and a wood burning stove adds to the charm. Close to Crawford Bay and the ferry, it's well placed for adventure if you you want to explore further afield to Nelson, Ainsworth Hot Springs and Kaslo. We stayed here with our 11 year old for 4 nights and the cabin was perfect for us. Our son was very fond of the two donkeys that greeted us every time we pulled into the driveway. We stayed over the August long weekend but on this quiet side of the lake we didn't even notice the expected holiday bustle. Host Tina who lives next door to the cabin with her family was gracious, and gave us our space. If you want to recharge and unwind, this is a beautiful place to be. We loved it!

I'm so glad I found this little cabin! So cozy and tastefully decorated, simple, yet with everything you could need to bask in the relaxation and solitude of the land. Robbie and Tina are really lovely people, warm and welcoming, and have great suggestions for places to explore and nice beach spots dotted all over the shoreline. The huge bathtub was probably my favourite part! One day after a hike I returned to the cabin to soak in an epsom bath and then curled up on the couch to read a book before falling asleep in the comfy bed up in the loft. So relaxing and exactly what I needed. Thank you Tina & Robbie!

About Tina

I love living in the countryside and chose this place for it's fresh water, stunning views, rich soil and fair weather. This property was placed under my care by a great friend who lives overseas. Aside from ourselves and some friends who rent out other homes on the land, this farm is also home to four happy horses, two adorable miniature donkeys, one friendly farm dog and a very frisky house cat. My hobbies include horseback riding, singing and painting pretty pictures. In the summer I grow food and flowers, a little more every year. I am interested in the principles of permaculture and gradually trying to implement sustainable practices in land management while remaining always a student of life.

2016 was our first year hosting travellers on airbnb and we wish to thank each of you who came to stay or saved our spots on their wish lists. It was a busy season for us and we met wonderful people from all corners of the globe. We look forward to a continued positively charged season in 2017 and are happy to be your hosts and friends by extension.
