This place was perfect for us-we just sold our home and needed a place to stay until we closed on our other home-this place was perfect, we were exhausted and needed to regroup and rest. We were able to do so at Micaela's home.

Micaela is a gem. The place is spot on how it is described and priced. Not fancy but a good place to stay. Easy to get in and out and quiet.

The loft is wonderful! Very safe and close to public transit. We really got a feel for Orange. The host was very friendly and accommodating! Highly recommend

The space was big and open! There seemed to be a lot of rules to where we felt like we couldn't fully enjoy the space, and didn't like that we had to put all the linens in the laundry basket when we pay a cleaning fee. Overall liked the space but felt like we were walking on eggshells with the owner saying she'd be in the unit below us visiting a friend and would come check up on us. Great actual space though.

Response from Micaela:
Hi Char, I'm glad we had the opportunity to discuss after you posted this review. I'm not sure what you meant by walking on eggshells...since we were invited to friends who live below our unit and told you that we'd pop up to say hello (since we hadn't met at check in). We weren't checking up on you, we were personally welcoming you, making sure you found everything and wishing you a nice stay but it was late when we arrived. We could hear your group laughing and enjoying yourselves but at the point that we were getting ready to leave, you'd quieted down and we didn't want to disturb. Not sure what else you would have wanted to have done??? The only house rule is that you do not become a nuisance to the neighbors in the building. The only reason we asked you to pull linens was because you'd requested a late check out. Trying to accommodate that request, we asked for that help so we could turn things around quickly for our next guests. I'm glad you enjoyed the loft and would recommend in the future that if something feels unclear or concerning that you communicate with your host.

Wow! A truly remarkable place. The space is incredible, the location with the access into manhattan is perfect. There was such a warm welcome and a wealth of knowledge shared with us of the apartment and the local area including the local transport links. Can quite honestly say you'll struggle to find a better maintained apartment at a good value with such a forthcoming and helpful host than this apartment from Micaela. 10/10!! Would highly recommend!!

Great hostess that was willing to accommodate all of my needs including a late check in and helped when my friend forgot something after we had already left. Only problem I had was it's proximity to a bad neighborhood. The location is right on the border between a nice area and that of a impoverished area. The parking available is trustworthy, but I'd recommend keeping valuables stored appropriately.

Micaela was very quick to respond to messages. There was some misunderstanding on the check-in process. We had to go to a neighboring town to pick up the keys at midnight (an extra $10 uber ride) when it stated 24 hour check in. They were kind enough to provide us with 2 sets of keys though which was appreciated. The loft was very clean and spacious and the beds were very comfortable (I would note that there are only 4 actual beds - the 5th is a folded futon). The train station was great to have right across the street however it generally only runs to NYC every 2 hours so it wasn’t very convenient - most days we had to walk to the Orange station which was about an 18 min walk until we were stopped by police officers to tell us that we shouldn’t be in the area - the officers said that Orange and East Orange are not areas you want to be in and compared it to Los Angeles’ South Central (we are from Los Angeles). So that was a bit frightening. We were also charged an extra $10 fee per guest we had over (who were not spending the night). We had a late flight out and Micaela was gracious enough to allow us a late check out.

Response from Micaela:
Rena was aware, as are all guests, that if you're arriving after we've gone to sleep, we will leave the keys on our front porch in the neighboring town. She found this out when she was deciding whether to book or not. The real reason she is looking for reasons to give a negative review is because we figured out that she was renting our place for the purposes of conducting her business--photo shoots and we required her to include all of her visitors on the reservation (for liability reasons). We usually charge $25/pp after 4 people. Instead we offered her a discount of $10/pp since they weren't staying over. As for the neighborhood and the train station right across the street...our loft is in a developing neighborhood, and the train runs several times hourly with quick transfer into NYC in 32-40 minutes. There's NEVER a need to walk to the Orange station (which is also filled with commuters who walk to and from without issue). The bed count--1 queen, 3 twins, 2 sofas, a futon and an air mattress are exactly as advertised. Honesty, the very best policy. We wish Rena well in her endeavors and recommend that she inform hosts when she is using their property for photo shoots and inviting 19 additional people (URL HIDDEN) really just common courtesy.
