Takashi's place is near the bustling Korean town so there's lots of food options. It's also pretty near to central Shinjuku if you know the way. Less than 10mins walk. While there are no elevators, his apartment is on the 2nd floor so its not too bad. Perfect for a solo traveller! Takashi responded pretty quick too.

Response from Takashi:
Dear Ngo, the apartment is definitely not more than 2km from Shinjuku JR. I had reminded you multiple times to download the map and guide and follow closely because the streets in Tokyo are very confusion and the address system is not easy to understand for foreigners. However, you failed to download the map and guide, got lost, so of course it would be more than 5 minutes walk. I'm very upset that you leave such a comment even when I came to find you late at night to show you the correct way to the apartment.

First the good things: The flat is well located in an area close to Shinjuku and Takashi (or his team) is very quick to answer our questions. The flat itself is exaclty as described on Airbnb. Pocket wifi is a plus. Still we were disappointed about our stay: The whole communication process was impersonal. We did not meet anybody, we did not get to know the host and our only phone contact number was a Chinese one, which belongs to his team of customer service staff who monitors Airbnb messages (quoted from his messages). Furthermore, we were surprised the about the very strict house rules (e.g NOT mentioning AirBNB to anybody and being very quiet at home otherwise he asks you to leave the flat, lots of DON’Ts, high penalties for losing keys etc.) which didn’t make us feel comfortable in this flat. At the end, it seemed obvious to us that Airbnb is just a business for Takashi, we will book a hotel next time to feel more comfortable, safe (at least we do not have to hide ourselves from anyone) and having a more personal contact.

Response from Takashi:
Dear Eda, I'm glad you like the location and the Wifi. I do regret you thought your stay was not personal enough. Indeed, as I own multiple units across Tokyo, I do have a team of multi-lingual staff to take care of guest needs promptly. If I had to personally respond to all guests issues, it would not be effective and would certainly have a negative impact on guest satisfaction. I have never had guests complain that I have helpers so your negative feedback come as a big surprise. In fact, all of my guests appreciate prompt attention to their questions even late at night or early in the morning. I do apologize for the Chinese contact number. It is usually given to my guests from China as they make up a large portion of my guests. It makes it easy for them to communicate with my Chinese speaking helpers. As a SuperHost, I have come across many unfortunate situations where guests lose keys or have rowdy parties inside the apartment, causing distress to the neighbors. Although relatively few and in between, after hosting more than 5,000 times, there has been some very “unusual” situations to say the least. The list of do’s and don’ts is meant to help my guests to avoid trouble with neighbors. I’m sorry that it made you feel uncomfortable. I truly hope I have another chance to host you to show you Japanese hospitality.

Takashi's place was a typical small Japanese apartment, ideally fits 2 people and it's quite cramped for more than that. The whole apartment was clean, albeit we had several troubles concerning the check in process and the wifi when we arrived, but Takashi was super responsive and the problems were quickly fixed. The closest station was the Seibu Shinjuku station, which doesn't belong to the JR line, if you want to take the JR line you'll have to walk a bit more to Shin Okubo, but the walk was quite enjoyable since we got to pass the Korean Town.
