Response from Cory:
I think this was Teresa's first Airbnb experience. They were very respectful of our home and the place was left in great condition and they seemed to take in stride a last minute disaster with the fridge that required some creative solutions on our part (the fridge stopped working that day, we provided them with a mini fridge and the freezer was fine... can't really predict that). My only strong suggestion for Teresa is that in future she read the host's listing. We put a great deal of effort into our listings to simplify things for ourselves and our guests and to answer all their questions. On average we have 6 messages from our guests in total from booking to checkout. With Teresa we had 64 messages before her check in date. It was a bit much and most of the questions could have been answered if she had read the listing as I repeatedly suggested. She made many changes to her reservation which was also time consuming. Lastly if she had a problem (not being able to operate a remote to the fireplace which was in perfect working order) she would identify the problem but not allow us to either fix it for her or show her what she needed to do; which was annoying. Really why complain if you don't want it fixed? We've never really had a guest have so many challenges with things (like a vacuum that is brand new and in excellent working condition that she insisted did not work). She did not follow our check in procedures (requests as to meeting time, meeting place, or our request to text when she was 15-20 minutes away so we could meet her). She didn't follow our checkout procedure itemized in our orientation manual which resulted in a pile of moldy towels amoungst other things. If we needed a response from her it was hard to get but she seemed to expect prompt attention to hers. At the end of the day we've never had a bad review; because Teresa wouldn't permit the opportunity to deal with her perceived problems (we checked things after she left as she wouldn't let us show her what to do and everything worked, the fireplace worked perfectly, the TV was fine I had used it the day she checked in, as to wifi we live in the country and it can be sketchy during storms). Teresa seems to be a nice person and as I said left our place in great condition. But I'm not sure Airbnb is for her or perhaps it wasn't a good fit on both ends.
