Look out over the city and beyond while making breakfast in the well equipped kitchen, get your daily constitutional walking down to the river and back, relax in the sun in the afternoon, lounge in the stylish living room in the evening then snuggle in the comfy beds and get ready to do it all again tomorrow! My favourite place to stay in Whanganui....

I think my friends are becoming bored of me singing the praises of Mid Century Retreat. I stayed a few weeks at the end of winter. The views are terrific, so is the art on the walls (and that to be discovered in unexpected places) and the heating is super-efficient. Help was at hand for a few queries but not intrusive. I grew up in Whanganui in the ’60s, but not in surroundings as charming as this – except the stove was a ringer for my mother’s.

We adored our stay at Michael's place. The house is such a beautiful example of modernist architecture and all the furniture had been carefully selected to match. We were equipped with everything we needed and stayed very warm inside despite the cold weather outside. Can't wait to visit again! Thanks Michael and Prakesh!

It's an amazing place. Despite the description I wasn't expecting the rooms to be so large and for each bedroom to have an ensuite. Awesome, would stay here again.
