The school and schoolhouse were built in 1874. The schoolhouse has three bedrooms sleeping 6 people. There is a living room, TV room, and large kitchen dining room. It is close to beaches, castles and golf. Country walks are at the gate.
It has extensive gardens and lawns-the perfect retreat in which to rest and read a book or strike up the BBQ or a base from which the beauty of rural Aberdeenshire can be explored.
Historic Banff is a 10 minute drive.
Aberdeen is only an hour's journey away.
The Schoolhouse has been our family home for over 22 years (we now live in an upper flat in the school) and it is our hope that visitors will feel just as at home and enjoy the Schoolhouse as we did, with our four children, for so many years.
The majority of the garden and grounds are open for use. Sheds and outbuildings would be "out of bounds" for safety's sake as would be the log pile!
Other things to note
There are walks from the front gate but some do require appropriate footwear (walking boots/wellingtons) as they go between fields on a public right of way.
Children playing in the gardens, due to mature trees, parking areas at the front of the house and a variety of walls, do need to be supervised by an adult.
We do not allow pets in the property.
Smoking is allowed outside house.
Depending on whether or not we have guests before and after your visit please check in any time after 2pm on arrival day and check out between 10am and 11am on day of departure.
My wife and I would normally be available to help with any queries relating to places to visit, shopping etc.
My wife and I are both retired teachers and enjoying life caring for our grandchildren.
We enjoy gardening, and walking and-when the weather is right- having BBQ's, sitting in the garden with a book and a glass of wine.
We are both active members of our local church and have a wide circle of friends. We enjoy entertaining. We love when our children visit and we have a family get together- a family Christmas is a very, very special holiday. .
