Usnea, our Nature, Art and Accommodation Space, is situated on the Evelyn Tablelands, Tropical North Qld. Here a discrete self-contained one bedroom cottage in upland rainforest is surrounded by natural and established gardens, and at 1,160m provides a cool summer and cosy winter retreat. Uniquely the cottage integrates art within and outside. Contemplation, inspiration, privacy and comfort, are all to be experienced, along with exploring our forest and local environmental features.

The Rustic Greenhouse: breakfast and wood provided

A character filled studio attached to the family home with its own entrance. Enjoy the plant filled space while you enjoy a breakfast of fresh bread, eggs from our chickens, cereal, condiments & coffee. At night light the fireplace with the wood provided & soak in the large tub. Take the picnic basket & rug provided, & explore the Mountain. We are located on the Main Road leading into Gallery Walk. If you are sensitive to road noise we might not be the perfect place for you.

Birdsong Villa - Figtrees on Watson

Birdsong Villa (at Figtrees on Watson) is a purpose architect designed fully self contained cottage for use by our short stay guests. It is on the same property as our very popular Betharam Villa (see Figtrees on Watson listing for photos and information about this beautiful property). The villa has been designed to be wheelchair friendly with wide door opening and minimal door sills. The villa was completed in early 2021 and had been finished and furnished to a high standard.

Hemingway’s on the Hill is a rustic private indulgence. Set high on the hill, bearing witness to the best of rural life. Cows graze paddocks, and flocks of birds fly overhead. Life is everywhere. Curated by Interior Designer Fifi. She wrote a story for the life to be lived in the space. Like the great man himself, thoughtful yet spare enough with surprises of artful collection. Howling Wolf is a premium off-grid glamping retreat set on 12 private acres near Federal village in the Byron Hinterland. A beautifully styled 4m Lotus Belle tent, your own kitchen and bathroom and wide sunset views create a simple, grounding escape. Powered by 12v solar power with a composting toilet, firepit and rainwater, it's a comfortable intentional place to slow down, breathe out and settle into nature.
