Revitalising a 106-year-old traditional inn and its storehouse: Mitsuhama Ryokan, with 188 m² of space, including a Japanese moss garden and a semi-open-air bath (limited to one group per day)

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ ◆ Limited to one group per day/private ~ long-established ryokan and warehouse experience-style stay ◆ ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛ ■ Location, History, Features ■ A 106-year-old long-established ryokan with a restaurant (formerly the Kawanaga Ryokan) in Matsuyama/Dogo's port town of Mitsuhama, surrounded by four white-walled storehouses built in the Edo period and four gardens. It has been gradually renovated and revitalised (currently in the process of revitalisation) with white plastered earthen walls, natural Kenji bamboo fences, and more.Originally an old house opened as an almost 100% inbound accommodation. We are conducting a semi open-air bath in the interior of the warehouse and renovation work centered around the water. ■ Soothing moss garden ■ There are three moss gardens: the front garden, the courtyard, and the back garden. Well water flows everywhere, including through a fountain, a basin, a stone trough, a stream between stepping stones, and a pond. The pond is home to koi, goldfish, medaka, tanago, and river prawns, and is a biotope space visited by wild birds. ■ Chick-in lounge (cafe/bar space), souvenir corner ■ You can drink authentic cocktails on the first floor of the main building. There is a souvenir corner with imported interior goods, accessories, natural stone and more from Japan, Bali and other overseas locations.

Pets are allowed to stay with you, and there is also a cute dog run in the backyard with an area of artificial turf surrounded by a fence about 1.2 meters high. The Niyodo River is also nearby, so you can go for a walk. 🐾 Regarding shopping, there is no convenience store or supermarket within walking distance (about 5 to 15 minutes by car). Before checking in, please be sure to purchase food and drinks for yourself and your dog for your stay. 🐾 Because it is a green environment with natural creatures, insects and frogs may appear depending on the season. It is an environment where dogs can play freely, but if you don't like insects, please understand this before making a reservation. If you can turn this small inconvenience into preparation, you can enjoy a special private space with your dog.
