We are family looking forward to hosting you at a comfortable and cozy house that is set amidst a carpet of green, overlooked by dense forest and the occasional witness to wildlife such as the Indian Gaur and the Barking Deer. With ample space to go on walks, treks and taking in nature, this is an ideal place for a blissful weekend getaway!
“I spent seven glorious nights at Mr Jacob's place in Kotagiri. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to take it easy, recharge your batteries and experience the beautiful mountain weather of Coonoor/Kotagiri. The apartment is clean, has a great view of the tea plantation, and its deck is terrific to see the sunrise and the night stars. The kitchen has a fridge, a microwave and a water filter and met most of my needs. I did not have a car for the week and decided to walk everywhere. The nearest village is 2 kms away and takes 15-20mins to get to on foot. I did rent a car one day to see the sights of Coonoor, and that worked out wonderfully. Mr and Mrs Jacob are lovely hosts, and I would recommend (almost insist) that you eat all your meals in their house. It's simple, elegant, tasty Indian cooking at its best. Someone from the family almost always sits with you while you eat, and you can find out more about life in Kotagiri. Mr Stephen Jacob was kind enough to drive me to Kodanad Sunrise Point for a brilliant sunrise. Doorba ji, the housekeeper, went above and beyond to ensure that I was comfortable, and I am grateful for that. I enjoyed my interactions with Shawn (whose photographs are lovely and all over the house) and Yohan, and they were wonderful, friendly boys who are talented and kind human beings. I went on a morning hike with Anthony anna to a nearby hill, and it was delightful. But undoubtedly, my favourite part of the week I spent there was spending time with the two dogs. Pax, who is a 3-year-old Rottweiler and Ira is a 3-month-old Labrador, and they completely captured my heart. They are the sweetest dogs in the world, and if you like spending time with dogs, Pax and Ira will make the stay worth it on their might. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience warm hospitality, lovely people and beautiful pets. The view is just the icing on the cake. I can't wait to go back and relive my week.”
Nestled in the Nilgiri Mountains at 8,000ft, just below Doddabetta Peak, this self-catering apartment with a fully equipped kitchen has a master bedroom and a sleeping loft. Surrounded by reserve forest and tea plantations, the view is stunning. On the same property is the large house, Stumpfields, which also hosts guests when the owners are travelling, and a smaller apartment, Ivy just below Bilberry, that hosts two guests. While each house is fully private, the gardens and grounds are shared.
“romantic, spacious, with a breathtaking view! the grounds are well manicured and gorgeous. do plan to spend some time at the cottage to take in the atmosphere. few tips: 1) i do recommend you get a driver or have your own ride. we arranged one at the bus station. finding an uber from the cottage is difficult . 2) bring some house slippers or woolen socks. the stone floors get cold in the winter. while the hot water in the shower didn’t last too long we heated our own water for a bucket bath quite comfortably. the fireplace was charming and we enjoyed curling up to it. Hari is such a helpful gent and a great resource! despite minor logistical inconveniences of getting there and leaving, staying outside of ooty is 100% worth the effort! We definitely unplugged, woke up to the sunrise cresting over the mountains, and breathed fresh misty mountain air. would def stay again!”

“Fuschia is a special experience. Set amongst beautiful tea plantations in the Kotogiri highlands overlooking a stunning waterfall, the property is an oasis of tranquility in often chaotic India. Although the accommodation is somewhat basic, the food and hospitality are outstanding. Baby is an excellent cook, Ishwaran helps in any way required in taking care of the property while Shanti maintains the rooms. Sharan, the owner, has a genuine passion for preserving local nature and truly cares about contributing to the local people. It was a pleasure to get to know Sharan and his crew and we loved our experiences around the campfire and family style dinner table. If you are looking for a genuine back to nature experience supported by caring local people Fuschia is for you.”
