You couldn't be closer to the water's edge in our self-catering suite at the head of a slipway and old historic port. Whether your choice is bathing in the warm, clear, Gulf Stream waters, fishing, diving or boating, it is all available, and you can rent boats with or without skipper.
“The Casa do Cais ("Kaihaus") was exactly what we expected: an original, small cottage right on the harbor of Calhau. The decor is spartan, but has everything you need. If you are looking for luxury, this is wrong! The best is the small terrace, which we used intensively for breakfast and in the evening for the Sundowner. You can see the harbor and the neighboring island of Faial, behind which the sun goes down. The water in the harbor is absolutely clean. You can swim and snorkel there. The quay wall is intensively used by locals as a fishing pier during the day. As a passionate angler I had some great moments and caught Bluefish and Barracuda. If you want more, you can also book boat tours at Roger. I had half a day for 250 euros and really fun. We caught big groupers, spiny mackerels and barracuda. Roger is a very attentive, warm, polyglot host. Every day he asked if he could do something for us. At night you only hear the sound of the sea and a few birds, very idyllic. The capital of the island is about 10 minutes by car. Here you get everything you need to live, even a few very good restaurants (always book!). The next bathing lagoon with beach bar is 5 minutes by car, on foot 15 minutes. So we imagined an Azores vacation. Gladly again!”
Our Studio Flat is perfect for adventurers (max. 3). It's an open space featuring 2 single beds, a sofa bed, kitchenette, an eating/seating area and complete bathroom - facing our sunny garden. “Casa do Cactus lived up to expectations. It has an excellent location, a few minutes walk from the center of Madalena where you can find all kinds of shops, restaurants and bars. Paula's friendliness is something to highlight, which even let her keep her bags in the apartment while we climbed the imposing Pico Mountain. We will certainly be back.”

“A great location in Horta to discover Faial from here. Nice guesthouse, with a shared kitchen, which is fully equipped!”
