What you'll do

We'll meet at Brown's Island in downtown Richmond, where we'll start our experience with a short grounding meditation before heading off on a 3-4 mile hike around the James River Park System. Throughout our hike, I'll offer up leading you through a few mindfulness exercises that will help you disconnect from any daily stresses, and better connect with yourself and the natural world. We'll stop on the river to enjoy the natural heartbeat of River City before heading back to Brown's Island and closing out the experience with a brief journaling exercise to reflect on your experience. *Note that I encourage you to silence / turn off any devices so that you can fully connect outside - prefer that guests do not take photos during the hike, as we'll plan to stop for a photo opportunity of the best view of Richmond! **Limited availability for Winter 2020 - message me directly to inquire about scheduling a private session!

I've hiked hundreds of miles across the world over the past seven years - including the Inca Trail, Tour du Mont Blanc, sections of the Appalachian Trail and numerous Colorado 14ers - which has fueled in me a strong passion for the outdoors, and the belief that everybody desperately needs nature in today's modern world. The outdoors have always been a part of my life - but it was not until I was dealing with a stressful job and burnout that nature became my therapy. I've experienced firsthand the powerful clarity that comes from climbing to the top of a mountain, as well as the wonder that you can discover in places near and far. I'm excited to share my passion for the outdoors, along with mindfulness practices in nature that have changed my life.

Where you'll be

This experience will take place on the local public park system, but will help you discover River City in a new light. From Brown's Island, we'll cross the T. Potterfield Memorial Bridge, connect with the Buttermilk Trail to 21st Street, then cross over to Belle Isle where we'll find a spot on the rocks to enjoy the James River. We'll cross back over the river on the suspension foot bridge and return to Brown's Island.

Guest requirements

Up to 6 guests ages 18 and up can attend. No hiking experience necessary, but would encourage a fitness level that is comfortable walking three miles at a time.

Please dress in active clothes and shoes that you'd be comfortable walking in for up to four miles - encourage you to bring a backpack or bag with an extra layer depending on the weather, as well as plenty of water to hydrate during our hike!
