What you'll do

* Toa Payoh Bus Interchange Witness first hand Toa Payoh’s role as a key transport node and its design as an integrated transport hub. * HDB Gallery The newly updated HDB Gallery at the HDB Hub tells the fascinating story of the government agency tasked to provide housing for millions since pre-independence. * My Nice Home Gallery The My Nice Home Gallery is an initiative by the HDB to provide showrooms for typical HDB flats to inspire creative interior design ideas and give the public a sense of how HDB flat units look like. * HDB Hub This is where public housing heaven is made, as prospective HDB flat owners choose their units. It’s also where resale transactions take place. HDB Hub is essentially HDB central. * Heartland Mall Get to see how HDB heartlanders eat, shop, play and relax in this very typical HDB town centre. * HDB Atrium Witness community activities and exhibitions that are regularly held in this communal space for residents in the area.

Jasmine

I am a local Singaporean and besides being a licensed tour guide, I am also licensed realtor, hence I will be able to explain to you in detail, the ins and outs of the public housing system in Singapore. Having moved from Chinatown (which was run down and derelict in those days) to public housing, I understand the context and impetus behind the Singapore government's public housing policy. Ever since the 1960s when public housing in Singapore was earnestly pursued as a key pillar of social development, an entire generation of Singaporeans have progressed from city slums to HDB living. Come hear the story of how a nation was transformed through the provision of quality and affordable housing on a massive scale, a huge undertaking of human endeavour!
