What we’ll do

While the group sits together in his canal narrowboat on the South Oxford Canal, Jeff will very briefly outline the history of the canal network, the Oxford Canal, and some of the history of boating on English canals. Jeff will then share with you some of the connections between nature (especially water) and mindfulness. The day will offer you more than teaching: Jeff will invite you to actively…

What else you should know

The name of the boat is 'Nirvana' and it will remain stationary, moored on the canal towpath. Boat statistics: 69', 6'10", 2 WCs, kitchen-diner, lounge, easy access. Boat Safety Scheme registered. Jeff is trained and certificated for canal boating. We will stay inside the boat if the weather is bad.

What I’ll provide

Snacks, Lunch and Dessert
For lunch, there will be a simple vegetarian meal of mixed bean casserole and baked potato, with a variety of cakes and fruits for dessert. Teas, coffee, biscuits and fruit will be available throughout the day.
Coffee, Juice, Tea and Water
Boat
We will be on a STATIONARY narrowboat that will remain moored on the canal towpath at Cropredy, Oxfordshire. The aim of the day is to practise stillness, so it is appropriate that the boat stays in one place.
Safety equipment
Lifesaving and fire safety equipment.

What to bring

Warm clothing in layers
Waterproof jacket (including hood, or with hat)
Strong and waterproof footwear

Where you'll be

We will be on a boat moored at the lovely village of Cropredy, Oxfordshire. The Oxford Canal is beautiful and peaceful. During the industrial revolution, it was the vital artery between London and the Midlands. It is now used for leisure boating, helping people reconnect with nature. At a time of growing concern over climate change and the need for environmental protection, it is vital that we reflect on our interdependence with nature
