What you'll do

Guests will be picked up in the morning at the agreed time from their Santa Marta location (by our driver) and head 45 minutes up a winding road to the mountain town of Minca where you will meet Gabriel or Cristian (co-hosts) at a local bakery for some real colombian coffee and freshly baked artesian bread. We will then begin a one hour hike (all levels welcomed) up to a double waterfall where we will be able to swim, have snacks and beverages from the eatery. Later we will head back down to the Minca town and visit a hostel 10 minutes up several stairs. At the hostel we will enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains, city and sea; order a beverage and a vegetarian meal. We will then make our way back to Santa Marta to end the day and for you to enjoy the sunset at your place of choice.

If you're interested in a different time or date not shown, please message me to book it.
If you would like to go on a longer (more challenging yet amazing) hike and visit the popular hostel with big hammocks at top of the mountain, please message me to arrange.

Having visited Colombia more than 10 times for months at a time since 2003, I have discovered almost everything it has to offer. When someone asks me, "do you prefer mountains or beaches?" My response is, "both, that's why I live in Santa Marta".

Where you'll be

We will be visiting a double waterfall up in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a beautiful place to relax and enjoy nature. Here we will be at an elevation of 800 meters where you'll be taking a break from the city heat and breathing in some fresh air. We'll then visit a hostel where we can relax and have a beverage to cool off from all the hiking.

Very sweet guide and very concerned about our well-being but he did not speak English very well. We, therefore, missed out on a lot of fun facts and helpful information. The cost seems a bit overpriced. I guess it included transportation and the guide, but, as I mentioned, if you only speak English then this is not really the "experience" for you. It's too expensive to have to miss out on any information.

everything was very well organized. My guide Christian was such a wonderful person, he taught me so much about plants, animals, fruits and stories of the mountain as we were climbing up to the fountains; he took great pictures, and constantly checked on me making sure I was safe and comfortable. Minca was a gorgeous town too, at the end i had a lavender coconut vegan ice cream.divine. the people of the town are very welcoming. great experience definitely coming back for more!
