What you'll do

Tours are every Sunday from June 16th through September 1st in the summer of 2019. During this 80 minute guided walking tour you will visit 8 unusual pieces of public art and learn the story of how and why they are here in Fremont, otherwise known as "The Center of the Universe." You will learn how the 18 foot Fremont Troll under the Aurora Bridge celebrates his birthday. You will hear the fascinating story of how a 7 ton sculpture of Vladimir Lenin traveled over 10,000 miles from its origin to end up in our neighborhood. Our program is quite interactive as we will participate in a playful ART ATTACK (with the sculpture Waiting for the Interurban), fire a 47' tall rocket (which is aimed at city hall) and meet the Fremont Troll's cousin under the Aurora Bridge. Along the way we will encourage people to find their playfulness through art and history. Afterwards you can visit the many local shops and cafes along the canal and wander through the Fremont (European style) Sunday Market. Bring a camera and a playful attitude and be prepared for some entertaining street theater!!

Welcome to Fremont. I am a teacher during the school year and a tour guide in the summer. Do a search for "Center of the Universe" and Google Maps lands you right here in my neighborhood. People from Fremont, like myself, are called Fremonsters. Our motto is De Libertas Quirkas which in bad Latin means the freedom to be peculiar. We relish this reputation and are quite playful yet serious about teaching people that public art is an important community value.
