What you'll do

We will start from The fishermen's quarter, in the historical center of Trapani, the extreme tip of western Sicily.
From Piazza Generale Scio to the Ligny Tower, passing by Villino Nasi and Lazzaretto, we will reconstruct the geological history of this part of the city, connected to Monte San Giuliano, the medieval center of Erice.
It is an experience of ECO-FRIENDLY GEOTURISM , in a metropolitan and historical context, in the area where the two Tyrrhenian and Mediterranean seas meet. I will tell you about the natural and geological beauties of the territory that I observed for years, from Mount Erice to the Egadi Islands. We will walk around to rediscover the connection between nature and the built of the territory, through space and time.
Itinerary Tp 01 - total 4 hours –difficulty 0/5 - the times will be agreed upon with morning or afternoon sessions on request:
9.00-13.00 departure at 9.00 from Piazza Generale Scio to Torre di Ligny.

I studied Geological Sciences in Palermo and I have been a qualified Geologist since 2001. Geology has fascinated me a lot and luckily for me, having been a freelance since 2004, I was able to explore various areas, from planning to execution, from the municipal plan to tje geognostic investigations . From macro to micro, my research starts from the ceramic raw materials of the quarries in archaeological sites and throught the the applied petrography / mineralogy it reaches the materials for constructions, in the restore and civil building. I am an expert evaluator according to REG 305/2011 / CE (CE Labeling for materials), GIS / ERIKUS expert.
I borned in Erice, and I live here in Trapani, near the Tower of Ligny, since 2010.

My husband and I and two teenage daughters shared a very interesting morning with Eugenia walking around parts of Trapani that are not explained in the usual tourist guide books. She provided specially created maps to show us the different rock types forming the foundations of the city and how people through the ages have used these materials to build structures. She is also very knowledgable about the geology of other regions of Sicily. She is very warm and open and clearly has a real passion for geology. She went out of her way to make the tour memorable - I would highly recommend this tour for anybody who is interested in the environment and looking at a city from a completely different perspective.
