What you'll do
You will visit a beautiful, hidden-away bowling club in North London for a relaxed afternoon or the occasional evening session. You will learn how to deliver the bowls aiming to get as close to the target as possible. Over tea and biscuits in the charming clubhouse, I will tell you about the sport, the 125-year old club and the neighbourhood that used to be small villages surrounded by farmers' fields. Finally, with a little map to guide you, I will set you on your way down the hill towards Kentish Town tube station - via the lovely series of lakes along the eastern edge of beautiful Hampstead Heath.
As a whole-hearted Londoner – although born in Austria -, I have been bowling for years and want to show the world what a great pastime this is. To me, bowling feels like a mindfulness exercise in the fresh air. My best shots happen when I completely focus on the present and empty my mind of conscious effort. When it does work, it produces an enormous feeling of accomplishment.
