What you'll do
Shinrin Yoku is the Japanese art of Forest Bathing/therapy. Experience the sights, tastes, smells and sounds of the beauty of the Greater Toronto area's treasury of nature. Your host Krista will manifest your connection with the forest, yourself and others and forage plants for your tea ceremony, as well as help inspire your creative design of the zen garden you make for home. Forest bathing is different from hiking or other forms of recreation in nature in that it occurs over short distances very slowly, allowing participants to absorb the healing properties of the forest while shedding oneself of the stresses of the hectic pace of the tamed world. Come and be one of the first to discover the more-than-human world in a way never before experienced.
Krista has a degree in Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism and is an outdoor educator full time. She is knowledgable of the local species and trails, and used to own a flower business. She is First Aid trained and will carry a first aid kit. Krista is a member of the Association for Nature Therapy Guides and is one of very few trained guides in Canada.
