What you'll do
This experience gives you the chance to witness the knife-forging process live in a knife maker’s workshop. We'll also visit a famous knife museum and get a hands-on demonstration of knife sharpening using Japanese whetstones. You'll also learn how to put the handle on your very own souvenir Santoku—Japanese kitchen knife—which will be engraved with Kanji inspired by your name.

Where you'll be
Sakai is an important Japanese seaport town on the edge of Osaka Bay, once famous for its samurai swords and now known for its knives. We'll meet at the Sakai train station and proceed to the knifemaker's workshop and knife museum from there.

For a full refund, cancel at least 7 days before the experience is scheduled to start or within 24 hours of purchase.
Always communicate through Airbnb. To protect your payment, never transfer money or communicate outside the Airbnb website or app.
Up to 6 guests ages 18 and up can attend. Please wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. There is always a danger of getting burned or cut, so please be very careful. We assume no responsibility in case of injury.
Feel free to bring your own old Japanese knife to be sharpened. You can also purchase a high‐end kitchen knife at wholesale price, directly from the dealer.
