What you'll do
Starting outside Clay Creative we will provide an introduction to Portland Street Art Alliance and our work in the community. We will provide a brief history of graffiti and create name "tags" together. Everyone will also be given a free bag of Pacific NW street art stickers. Then we will begin our interpretive tour through Inner Industrial SE Portland, where we will see and learn about some of the best murals and graffiti in the city! Local experts, artists, and advocates will tell you about the history of street art in Portland and the process of making art in the streets. We'll have a live painting demonstration by a longtime Portland street artist, where you will learn about spray painting techniques and can try your hand at handling rattle cans. The tour will conclude at two of Portland's newest rotating graffiti art walls.
PSAA directors Tiffany, Tomás, and Galen have documented street art for over a decade. With academic and professional backgrounds in public space theory, research, gallery and arts management, we work collaboratively with a large network of street and graffiti artists to make cool projects happen!
