What you'll do
On each day hike you will walk in the stunning mountains of north- western Tokyo off the beaten track! Depending on the hike you will see rivers, waterfalls, hot springs and maybe some wild boar, deer, monkeys, bears and buddhist and shinto sites! This is beautiful nature that most people who visit Tokyo would never know actually existed. Based on your interests, we will include a movement practice, meditation, lecture on Japanese buddhism/shintoism, lecture on the neurobiology of movement/stress/adaptive learning, Q&A on diet and nutrition that looks at both eastern philosophy and current scientific research. The program on each trip will be uniquely designed to meet the general consensus of all the participants!
Patrick & Ksenia
Born in Asia, raised between Europe and Canada and based in Japan for 30 years, Patrick founded YogaJaya studio in Tokyo. He also developed a practice method with 70+ certified teachers globally, designed to promote optimal heath and adaptive learning. Ksenia, a neurobiologist from Russia, completed her PhD in Kyoto and focuses on mechanisms underlying brain health and disorders. She works on approaches to help others to regain their health. P&K are both inspired by Japanese culture and nature and have ongoing projects that focus on heath, and optimising mental and physical performance.

Where you'll be
You will experience off-the-beaten trails in forests of the pristine mountain ranges of Northwestern Tokyo. The area is known for ascetic monk training with a 2000 + year history in this region. The Chichibu Tama Kai National Park, extends across a huge area, bordering 4 prefectures, with spectacular rivers and valleys, Shinto shines, Buddhist temples, traditional villages and regional fauna and flora.

You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.
We will inform you of any extra costs in advance. (NOTE: Japan rail passes should work for parts of the journey). Although not rigorous, hikes range from 8 to 16km over a variety of terrain.
