What you'll do
Few steps from central station, there's a place that you probably never heard of, where worked the greatest masters of italian art. It's the historical complex (church and museum) of Santa Maria Novella: a real illustrated book of art's history, that shows the evolution from Middle-Age to the late Renaissance. Together, we will make a tour from Giotto to Masaccio, from Botticelli to Ghirlandaio, and then Paolo Uccello, Filippino Lippi, Brunelleschi. And Michelangelo, who worked here as apprentice in his youngest years and named this place "My bride" because of its masterpieces. But every bride has her own flowers bouquet. So, after church and museum, we'll reach the most scented place in Firenze: the “Officina di Santa Maria Novella”, the oldest pharmacy of the whole Europe, which still creates and sells products for beauty, health and wellness, but also specialities like Alchermes, known as “The Medici's liquor”. A place which inspired cinema, where we'll be allowed to breath an old-time air, to lose ourselves through medieval frescoes, and even to drink a coffee or an aromatic tea in the internal bar of the Officina. One of the less-known, but most suggestive places in Firenze.
I'm a journalist with over 10 years of experience. My field of expertise includes science, environment, florentine art and culture: in my job, I always try to attract the curiosity of the reader, focusing on the stories, the symbols, the legends that are hidden in a place or an artwork. I work together with my girlfriend Laura, who is an officially licensed tourist guide from 2017. We both live in Firenze, and we are both long-term Airbnb hosts. We share a deep passion for Firenze and its art, and we want to make you fall in love with our town.
