What you'll do
I'll teach you to write your name in kanji using the beautiful and ancient art of Japanese calligraphy. You'll need to tell me how to pronounce your name ahead of time so that I can translate it into kanji and give your name an appropriate meaning. I'll show you how to write your name in Japanese on a card that you'll get to take home as a souvenir. We'll also talk about the history and meanings behind Japanese kanji characters, many of which are also Chinese characters.
I'm a licensed calligraphy teacher and I love sharing the art of Japanese calligraphy with visitors to Tokyo. I've traveled quite a bit, and I love sharing cultures—which is why I started teaching this class. I want to teach you about Japanese calligraphy while I learn about your country's culture.

Where you'll be
A residential area without tall buildings. It has a different feel than other parts of the city, and gives you a peek at daily life in Japan. If you have time after our calligraphy experience, I can introduce you to Otsuka.
