What you'll do

*In this tour we will respect WHO's safety measures regarding Covid-19 with a small group of participants, providing a hand sanitizer at all times and wearing masks.*

We'll take a walk through Dubrovnik's history while re-living its most glorious, as well as it's darkest times.

The tour starts at Pile gate where we'll emerge into this millennia-long story starting with the arrival of the very first inhabitants. From their humble beginnings to the making of the City walls, you'll get a full understanding of the birth of Dubrovnik through chronological stories.

In the Old town itself, we'll get to know the great Republic of Ragusa, medieval Dubrovnik, up-close and personal. We're going to get into the most important aspects of its medieval past - religious, political and public - speaking of subjects such as social awareness of the Government, natural disasters, progressive decisions, inventions and Ragusa's substantial downfall thanks to Napoleon himself.

Not to dwell too much in the past, we'll also talk about the present - from the Yugoslavian war in 1991, to the local life today in the Old town, in Dubrovnik and in Croatia, too. My stories and your questions will paint a picture of a highly advanced, medieval city-state that can still be found in the modern streets we walk on. Luckily, we'll know just where to find it :)

My name is Tanja, I'm a 29-year-old published writer and a licensed tour guide. In short, I'm a chatty foodie in constant pursuit of magic no matter it's form - books, travels or people. My co-host is Jure (27), a friend and colleague with whome I studied History of the Mediterranean, and who lives and breathes stories of his hometown.
EDIT: having in mind the financial difficulties we've all been through due to the pandemic, we've cut the prices in half. This way, you get to enjoy the story of Dubrovnik, and we get to keep our beloved jobs so hopefully, this works for all of us :) Also, we've reduced the number of participants from 10 to 8 (unless you're a bigger party, then it can be arranged, of course) and will make sure we wash and hanitize our hands throughout the tour. We're very much looking forward to meeting you! :)

Jure was an excellent Guide - we really enjoyed the tour, his knowledge, the personal details. We wouldn't have discovered Dubrovnik in this depth without him. Absolute recommendation. Go for a visit - especially enjoyed the calm without cruiseships

My boyfriend and I booked this tour at the beginning of our stay to get an overview of the history of Dubrovnik and sights we would like to visit during the next days. The tour was a great way to start the trip and we learned a lot about city. Jure, our guide, was still in contact with us after the tour to give us advice on what to do and how to make the most of our time. He was very knowledgable and always open for our questions which made the tour very personal and easy-going. We had great fun, learned a lot and would definitely recommend this tour!

Tanja was brilliant, she really made the tour feel like a once in a lifetime experience. She took time to not only explain the history of this beautiful place, but also, share personal stories which made the history of the place seem much more tangible. We were completely comfortable with her and no question or query was left unanswered. Great value for money. We’d highly recommend you book this tour!

Tanja is a knowledgeable and patient guide. She is a local and she is passionately dedicated to Dubrovnik history. She left us with lots of thoughts about their magical history, inventions and great politics. She gave us useful information about how to safe money, what is worth seeing for our limited time, where the best restaurants and street food are. I highly recommend Tanja as a wonderful choice to have a nice experience in Dubrovnik.
