What you'll do
Check out my social media for further insight: @silkandcoupe The best part about this experience? It's casual, laid back, down to earth and *not* stuffy. You get to hang out with me in a chic and intimate space, dead centre in downtown Toronto, tasting outstanding wines, while you munch on cheese and charcuterie. I love meeting new people, especially while sipping wine and sharing stories of travelling - a big part of this experience is getting to know each other, so I strongly encourage you to relax, enjoy and treat it as though you're kicking back with friends. I'll introduce you to a flight of wines - all poured blind. Blind tasting is a great way to remove all bias - while you might think you love cabernet sauvignon from Napa - maybe you like pinot noir from Ontario even more! I won't show you the label, or tell you where it's from. All you'll see is what's in your glass - it's just your palate deciding whether you enjoy the wine or not, not your ego, or what your wine expert friend, "Brian", told you "is the best". You’ll be trying some really fun stuff, and I'll share all the stories that go with them. Be prepared to be surprised at the caliber and quality of Canadian wines!
Please check out my social media for a great glimpse into my expertise: @silkandcoupe I am a wine professional based in Toronto. I work as a freelance consultant, splitting my time amongst writing about wine (I have a weekly wine column called "The Wine Print" for a Canadian media outlet), hosting private tastings, operating my subscription based wine club called "Crushable", and managing my bi-annual wine conference called the "Sensory Symposium". So, suffice it to say - I like wine! I really enjoy sharing the wines I have the opportunity to taste with people - especially visitors or tourists new to Canada who haven't had the chance to try the amazing calibre of wines we are producing here. Canada is exploding in terms of quality and producers - it's an exciting time to be here!
