What you'll do

You’ll start out by meeting me at the studio, housed in a historic warehouse and now shared with artists of every medium. We’re just blocks from the hustle of the Arts District. I provide beer, la croix, hot tea or a glass of wine to sip on while you throw. I can host up to five guests at a time and I’ll give demonstrations, helping out with tricks and techniques to get you going. I am happy to offer as much guidance as you wish, usually the first hour is lots of specific instruction and the second hour is a chance to experiment and practice while I remain close to help as needed. During your class you’ll get a chance to create as many pieces as you have time for. Everyone is different, some students might finish half a dozen pieces of pottery while others might spend nearly the whole class perfecting just a couple. Please note that the price of the class does not include any pieces to keep. If you want to keep pieces there is an additional charge per piece and they take 4-8 weeks to be fired and glazed.

Penelope

I’m a ceramic artist working in Los Angeles. I’ve been working with ceramics for 6 years and teaching for two. I love to share this passion of mine. My studio is my second home and even after all this time I am still completely in love with having my hands in clay. I hope by the end of our session you’ll understand why this practice is so fun, challenging and meditative.
