What you'll do
You'll receive light refreshments on arrival while Sinéad introduces you to the studio and the process. Then you can pick a style of glass; Coupe, Collins, Balloon OR invent your own! We have a selection of recycled glass in a variety of colours and shapes. You can choose some glass to work with and sketch your design for your cocktail glass and stirrer. When you're happy with your design you'll mark up your glass and cut it on the saw. Following that you'll grind the glass smooth and polish it using the grinding machine and by hand using various glass techniques. Each process is demonstrated in detail by Sinéad. Following that she will show the group how to apply different surfaces and marks to the glass on the engraving lathe, stone wheel lathe and diamond hand engraver. The group will have the option to experiment with the glass equipment and decorate their glass with textures and patterns. Next, the group will learn how to create a glass cocktail stirrer by cutting and gluing shapes from a variety of colourful sheet glass. And finally, the group will enjoy some well earned cocktails and nibbles.

Where you'll be
Our workshop will take place in Sinéad and Róisín's glass studio. The studio is divided into a design space and cold glass workshop. We've got many personal and collaborative projects at the studio, some of which you will see on display or in process. The workshop consists of a saw, belt sander, flatbed grinder, engraving lathe and stone wheel lathe as well as many hand tools. We also have a garden space where we grow some cocktail ingredients!
