What you'll do

Our adventure begins with a bucket list Seattle experience by walking onto the Seattle-Bainbridge Ferry from Downtown Seattle. This 35-minute ferry ride will give us a front-row view of the Seattle skyline, the Puget Sound, and on a clear day, Mount Rainier and the Cascade Mountains. From the Bainbridge Ferry Terminal, we’ll enjoy a scenic 1 hour 30 minute drive through the rural forests of the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas until reaching Port Angeles for a brief pitstop. From Port Angeles, we’ll drive from sea-level to 5,242 feet to the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center, which showcases incredible vistas of the Olympic Mountains and forested river valleys, depending on cloud conditions. Atop Hurricane Ridge, we hike and enjoy a picnic lunch in the beautiful subalpine terrain of the Olympics. Based on the weather, visibility, trail conditions, and our group’s hiking pace, we will adjust our itinerary as needed, which could include adding a stop at Lake Crescent and the Elwha River. Overall, we generally cover 4-6 miles on our guided hike on one or more hiking trails, which will be rated easy to moderate. Our trails will generally be snow free from July – October, however, with 30-40 feet of snow each winter don’t be surprised to be hiking in melting snow April – June and trekking in our provided snowshoes November – March.

Where you'll be

We will ferry across the Puget Sound from Downtown Seattle to Bainbridge Island, drive west onto the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas, arriving in Port Angeles, which is the epicenter for exploring Olympic National Park. In Olympic, we'll go from sea-level into mossy old-growth forests, eventually reaching the subalpine of the Olympic Mountains. Overall, we will spend 3-4 hours hiking, 4-5 hours driving, and 1.5 hours of ferry travel.
