What you'll do
We will bake fruit, lavender and berry scones, and spelt or brown bread. I believe in the hands on experience for my guests - from handling ingredients to kneading dough. It isn't all about the cooking, I share lots of tips from my experience over the years. I love to see the faces full of excitement and joy at the sight of the end product - freshly baked scones and bread. And best of all we have lots of fun.

Coming from a farming background I remember well how everything on the farm was home produced. From milking the cows after school to baking mince pies at Christmas, I was introduced to cooking from a very early age, and the passion has stayed with me. I have run a successful cafe and cookery school for many years. Being featured in The Bridgestone Guide, New York Times and on a number of overseas websites brings a steady stream of tourists to my cafe and classes. I am vegetarian and have a strong belief in the value of nutritious and healthy eating so I also run vegetarian cookery classes.

Where you'll be
The day time experience's are held at my beautiful cosy home in Kilcolgan. I also run some of the experiences at my cafe, Kate's Place, in Oranmore, Orantown centre. In my home, guests enjoy the homely feel of my Irish kitchen. In every experience we always discuss the difference between baking bread long ago, compared to nowadays. I also encourage the use of my fruits and herbs from my garden, where if possible, we avail of seasonal delights.

For a full refund, cancel at least 7 days before the experience is scheduled to start or within 24 hours of purchase.
Always communicate through Airbnb. To protect your payment, never transfer money or communicate outside the Airbnb website or app.

For my home -Public transport can be used to get to the bus stop in Kilcolgan village, from there I collect you and take you to my home. If coming from Galway you can take the 51 bus from the bus station/train station in Galway city. From Galway to Kate's Place Cafe in Oranmore you can take 404 bus.
