What you'll do

We will bake fruit, lavender and berry scones, and spelt or brown bread.
I believe in the hands on experience for my guests - from handling ingredients to kneading dough.
It isn't all about the cooking, I share lots of tips from my experience over the years.
I love to see the faces full of excitement and joy at the sight of the end product - freshly baked scones and bread.
And best of all we have lots of fun.

Ps. If any of the dates on my calendar does not suits you, please contact me and I’ll do my best to accommodate you on the dates that suits you.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions all the experiences are held at my cafe in Oranmore, or online on Zoom.

Coming from a farming background I remember well how everything on the farm was home produced. From milking the cows after school to baking mince pies at Christmas, I was introduced to cooking from a very early age, and the passion has stayed with me. I have run a successful cafe and cookery school for many years. Being featured in The Bridgestone Guide, New York Times and on a number of overseas websites brings a steady stream of tourists to my cafe and classes. I am vegetarian and have a strong belief in the value of nutritious and healthy eating so I also run vegetarian cookery classes.

I loved my mornings baking in Kate’s beautiful home. We made gorgeous scones with lavender from the garden. I tried delicious spelt bread and am now a convert. Kate was so warm and friendly. I had a wonderful time and highly recommend the experience.

We have a lovely morning baking scones and bread. I do bake at home, but could probably use my own scones as bricks! Kate showed me how to bake light, fluffy scones, bringing me right back to the good techniques that I had been taught (and forgotten!) from domestic science classes in school so many years ago. Highly recommended experience, and we jady plenty of scones and bread to take away!

Myself the hubby, a teen and a tween did a baking experience with Kate. What an absolutely fantastic experience. Kate is a gem. I credit her with our families new found interest in baking. We had fluffy scones and spelt bread like we've never had before. Delicious! The new Covid regulations have made things so difficult for small businesses but its so great to be able to support those businesses that are trying to survive. Go Kate, we loved it. And we'll be back.

What a wonderful morning with Kate! We made chocolate and lavender scones, with lavender cut fresh from the garden. We also made delicious, wholesome spelt bread. The conversation flowed easily-- Kate is warm and welcoming. I love to cook but don't have much experience baking but feel a lot more confident after my time with Kate. Would heartily recommend this to anyone and everyone :)

I had a fantastic afternoon with Kate, who shared her love of baking with me... I had asked to do gluten free options and Kate’s scones and spelt bread were really special... we chatted over a cup of tea and freshly baked lavender scones just out of the oven... Kate makes you feel welcome as soon as she opens the door and goes the extra mile to make sure everything is first class... she has a beautiful home and garden which she shared with me for the afternoon... thank you so much Kate I really enjoyed it, you have inspired me for the future. 😀

Had a really fun time at Kate’s house baking, we had a laugh and she was really helpful and approachable while we prepared the ingredients. She made us teas and coffees while our food baked and we sat in her beautiful garden chatting with her and petting her gorgeous dog. She’s a very kind person and our bread and scones turned out perfect. She even made a cake for my boyfriends birthday which she surprised us with - highly recommended enjoyable experience with a lovely, very kind lady 😊

Guests do not need to bring anything with them. I provide ingredients, recipes, pens, aprons. Do let me know if you have any dietary/food allergies or concerns. I use wheat, dairy products but can easily switch to gluten and wheat free products as well
