What you'll do
Meet at the Last Drop Cafe at the base of the Arcelor-Mittal Orbit. https://www.queenelizabetholympicpark.co.uk/the-park/attractions/the-last-drop Join me on my journey to - Becoming an Urban Farmer – Life on Pudding Mill Allotments waiting list So this year’s waiting list to join the Pudding Mill Allotments Community of Gardeners is open again for one day only. I've been on the list for 2 years now and have moved up from number 20 to number 15. I guess I have a few more years to go before I get my plot; but I love the wait. Why? Because I get to see how the site evolves & develops, the crops & choice of which flower to grow changes and watching new urban farmers settle in knowing one day it will be me. Expect to stroll through the grounds, learn how allotments are run in East London; learn about some of the politics surrounding this new site which is just off the Olympic Park and the history of the old site. Join the waiting list if you live in the area, maybe you will get your plot before me. Discuss urban farming, environmental and housing issues – you will see there are a lot of high raised flats nearby that do not have access to a garden area.
I've lived in East London for over 35 years and I love its ruggedness and its wonderfully diverse local people, their stories & their businesses. I'm the co-founder of London City Steps, a social enterprise based in Bow East London, a stones throw from The Olympic Park and the ArcelorMittal Orbit. I love the East-end of London and so do the Guides and volunteers who help to run this social enterprise. My name is Angela and I enjoy listening to local folks talk about their lives and loves and so the tours we organise will always involve the local community such as; On Becoming an Urban Farmer - How I Joined Pudding Mill Lane Allotment scheme, Secrets of Women in Business Clubs, Busman's Holiday Series - Visit Business Exhibitions with me (Tourism / Food / Property) and Cemeteries.
