What you'll do

During the Eco Walk Talk, we will be discovering ancient Split and the imposing Diocletian's palace - a UNESCO World Heritage site. At the same time, we’ll be raising awareness on the current ecological issues in the region and worldwide. We’ll discuss the major threats and necessary actions needed to protect our oceans and seas, and promote the environmentally sound use of marine resources. Whilst we’re discussing these important issues, we will also wander through the labyrinth of cobblestone streets, vibrant and charming bars, cafes, restaurants and boutique hotels. We’ll discover one the best examples of preserved architecture, Diocletian’s Palace, constructed by the Romans during the 4th Century. These structures that were formed over several centuries are one of the highlights that have attracted millions of visitors to the seaside city of Split. We will start the tour in front of the Harbour Master's Office, stop near the Split city model and then enter the magnificent Palace. After seeing all of the important sights within the Palace, we will end the tour on the main Promenade where beauties of nature and culture meet and provide everyone with unforgettable moments.

About the organisation: GREEN SAIL

Through different programs, Green Sail partners with key companies, marinas, institutions, environmentally friendly businesses and individuals by providing informative and educational activities and materials. We raise awareness about the importance of 'green tourism' and promote recycling facilities in marinas. This way we ensure waste is being properly handled, away from the sea.

This is a social impact experience where 100% of what you pay for this experience goes to GREEN SAIL.

We honestly chose this tour because we just wanted something different from those 30+ people giant group tours. This was truly one of our loveliest times in Split. We got a small group, learned all the history and culture stuff we would have gotten on a regular tour AND got to ask lots and lots of questions about the environment, politics, the local culture and tourism. It's like it was tailored to our group. Highly recommend and best of luck to Green Sail! And if you want to be a better tourist, always bring reusable bags, ask about recycling everywhere you go and ask for tap water at restaurants even if you know they'll refuse to serve it to you. Demand creates action!

Ornela, thank you so much for such an interesting tour. We go back home with a bittersweet taste, saying goodbye to Split is so sad, but we are glad to have spend some time with you and getting to know the history of the city. If you ever pass thru Spain or Italy, please let us know so we can show you the city. I really hope your job in the foundation helps to clean the oceans and helps teach people to be responsable and caring with our Mother Earth.

Ornela was just wonderful! We took a lovely walk from water to the Palace center. I loved hearing about Green Sail and the issues that are arising that the organization is trying to find solutions for. I also loved hearing about the history of Croatia! I definitely recommend spending your money for this eco tour!

Ended up having a private tour because of the holiday! Tour guide was knowledgeable and made the history interesting. An hour is the perfect amount of time to see the palace. I would definitely recommend this tour. Plus, learning about the local ecology was interesting.

I don't usually go on tours as I find them too busy and touristy and like to self guide. I signed up to this because as someone who is environmentally conscious at home, I also want to ensure I do this when I travel. I was lucky enough to have my own private tour both learning what I can do as a tourist to help reduce plastic pollution but also an historical tour which an incredibly informed and friendly guide. Thank you for a memorable experience.
