What you'll do

Japanese Lantern is part of Japanese culture. It has a long history and can be seen in many places. With the purpose of allowing more people to come into contact with this culture, we organised "Make your own Japanese Lantern" workshop with the help of "Chochinpo kawai". Before the workshop starts, we will make some introductions and explanations on Japanese Lantern. The workshop will take about an hour. In fact, what the guests need to do is to write their own kanji name with a brush on a Japanese Lantern that will be prepared by us beforehand. As for foreign tourists who do not have a kanji name, we will help you to convert your English name to kanji in advance. You can then practice writing it on the paper given by us. Once you are ready, start writing your name by using the brush on your Japanese Lantern and finish your task by blowing it dry. I believe many people touch the brush for the first time but this will also be part of your experience. Well, it is fine as long as you enjoy the process of completing your very first Japanese lantern. At the end, we will make your Lantern small and put it into a box, so that you can take it back conveniently.

Jinyang

I have been in Japan since high school and now living in Osaka, the city that I like most. As I enjoy interacting with different types of people and have great interest in design, I established my own design studio. Meanwhile, I tried to integrate different cultures into the environment and things, so that all kinds of people will be able to try and experience a new lifestyle. When you can feel and experience the culture yourself, you will discover its indescribable charm.

What's included

Equipment
Lantern, brush, and ink. You can only bring back the Lantern.

Where you'll be

This workshop will be held at the company "Chochinpo kawai". When we are on the way to the workshop, we will cross a bridge where we can take some pictures of its beautiful view. After the workshop, you can visit Osaka Castle, which is about 20 minutes walk from our building. So, I suggest your schedule should include both workshop and Osaka Castle tour on the same day.
