What you'll do

This experience gives you a very UNIQUE experience of trying out various types of SAKE CUPS (called Ochoko in Japanese) to taste Japanese traditional drink, SAKE. There are hundreds of different kinds (in shapes/colors/materials) of Sake cups exist in Japan, and each cup gives a different taste of SAKE (or even water). At the end of the course, you will know how you can choose a right sake cup for your sake. Emily, your host, will provide a short lecture in English (or Japanese): (1) how you can choose Sake cups at the restaurants and shops (for souvenirs), (2) Japanese traditional pottery making. (3) how Japanese people drink Sake with Sake cups and sake servers (called Tokkuri and Katakuchi). 3 to 6 shots of Sake will be served = Emily's selection of the day - selected from the hidden Sake makers which are not commonly found. Sake will be tasted with 3 different types of Ochoko, (made in different shapes, materials, etc)., which 2 will be selected by Emily, and 1 by you from 50 different types of Ochoko. Sake cups are mainly from the various potteries production sites/areas of Japan, and as an option, Ochoko and Sake servers can be purchased at the end of the course.
