What we’ll do

We will meet at the Historic Sugar Mill ghost town of Mahukona Beach Park at 10:00 am where we begin hiking a secret 2 hour trail along the scenic Kohala coast passing through Kiawe tree forests, over ancient rock walls and around little picturesque coves and possibly even see some whales breaching! Along the way, our small group of about 4 people will discuss the mythology and history of this…

What else you should know

This hike is beginners level on relatively flat terrain with some loose rocks along the way. We keep a moderate pace allowing hikers to take photos and enjoy the scenery although we maintain movement to ensure the timing is within 2 hours.

Where you'll be

We will meet up at a local swimming spot called Mahukona Beach Park, where we’ll begin and end our hike on a hidden trail through the ruins of an old ghost town and an ancient Hawaiian cultural site along the beautiful Kohala coastline. Not too many people know about this special little slice of Hawaii. Stunning views of Maui can be seen everyday and daily sightings of whales happen until April!
