What you'll do
This private full day workshop gives you a personal introduction into Ashtanga Yoga poses and philosophy. Ashtanga is an age old tradition, a system of yoga that involves synchronising the breath with a progressive series of postures, asanas. They are done in a constant flow at your own pace, while the main focus is internal. By practicing we find physical, emotional and mental flexibility, strength and balance. Initiating the day with the opening mantra you start learning the asanas of the first half of the Primary Series while receiving your individual modifications and adjustments. Depending on your level this includes opening series, standing and sitting series and the finishing sequence. Late morning we enjoy a fresh coconut and delve into the philosophical foundation of the practice, the Eight Limbs of Yoga, that offer timeless guidelines for a meaningful life. In the afternoon we first continue discussing the deep connection of asana and philosophy. As we develop an understanding of both aspects, practice becomes easy, because we know where it leads and how to get there. In a second asana session you can experience this new perspective. The primary purpose of daily practice is to deepen our sadhana - our spiritual practice - through concentration, self-observation and compassion. We finish off the day with the closing mantra and a releasing massage for body and mind.
I am co-founder of the Kaibigan Soul Camp and a yogini for about 10 years. For the last 3 years I study and teach Ashtanga, Acro and Yin Yoga as well as various massage and healing practices in different places in South East Asia. I found my deepest passion within the beautiful practice of Ashtanga yoga, my personal daily meditation in movement. Ashtanga changed and improved my life in so many ways and I am lucky to be practicing myself with great teachers in India and Indonesia. I will keep on doing so with dedication, love and gratitude. It's fulfilling and gratifying to share my experience and knowledge with people who are new to the sequence and philosophy - especially at this absolutely inspiring and re-centering place in the middle of the most warm-hearted, polite and welcoming people.
