What you'll do
This Farm Experience will meet at the 3196 Route 28 Parsonage property at the Paddock Gate at the rear of property. Guests should wear sturdy, closed toe footwear and attire should have as few dangling strings, zippers, or ties as possible. After some brief safety rules about donkeys, we will enter the paddock. We will walk to the barn and learn about what donkeys eat, their ideal environment, their habits, life cycle, unique needs and challenges here in the US. In addition for a more hands on approach... you can meet the donkeys, pet them, groom them, feed them a treat, and take pictures. We also have a small flock of chickens. Some of which are very personable and others, who make a lot of noise and have a Napoleon Complex. Haha! Either way, we will explain and educate the basics of Chicken Keeping 101. Again, there are hands on opportunities to hold and pet a chicken (yes, they do like it!).
Peter & Gina
We first began hobby farming after a family member suffered a tragic accident, sadly resulting in the loss of their right leg below the knee. It was a rather dark time. That said, as a last ditch effort to get off the couch and back to life... we acquired chickens. Then ducks. Then goats. A horse. And lastly a young donkey. Since then, we’ve become ALL DONKEYS, as we rescued 3 additions donkeys... one of which gave birth to a 5th donkey here on our farm! We then started a 501c3 Donkey Sanctuary & Rescue to help us care for them. With careful placement, we have adopted out 3 of our herd, and currently have 2 donkeys (Dominick & Louie) we are training to ride and drive as well as become educational ambassadors for donkeys everywhere! We currently bring them to events, host our own, and continue to learn and grow with our herd everyday.
Fresh baked goods and Hot Apple Cider in cooler months, Fresh squeezed lemonade in warmer months.
Where you'll be
Most of our interaction with animals will be in the paddock, but some may also be in the barn if weather is limiting.
