What you'll do
The Mills is now a unique home to tourists, artists and makers who have inherited the city’s fighting spirit. For history and art, there is CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Art and Textiles). For local artisanal F&B and experiential shopping, there is Shopfloor. For techstyle entrepreneurs, there is Fabrica. We'll taste the traditional Chinese Culture by acting and singing Cantonese opera instructed by a professional tutor, as well as dancing in full costumes. Before the cultural learning, we'll start The Mills tour at our main hall and get to know each other. It include all our heritage spots, architecture & attractions, public space, and experiential shopfloor, to feel how we give meaning to the buildings’ new identity while respecting the old as old, and the new as new, and how we transformed three former mills into a destination for innovation, culture and learning. Then walk to Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile, to hear stories about the exhibition objects and the history of Hong Kong’s textile industry.
I'm your ambassador of The Mills. I am very happy to show visitors The Mills, the landmark revitalisation project in Tsuen Wan, which has given one of the city’s original textile hubs a new lease on life. Compromised of three former mills in 1960s, the space exists as an experiential shopping destination, a non-profit arts and culture centre, and an incubation hub supporting startups and the creative community. In this impressively designed space, legacy sits alongside innovation, preserving Hong Kong’s unique past and celebrating its future, we will lead you to experience Chinese opera singing, acting and dancing.
