What you'll do

Gyeongju is a city where the history of the Silla Kingdom still can be felt and experienced even today as it is so well preserved. During this trip, you can experience Gyeongju’s magical mix of history, tradition, and nature while we visit some of the historical sites that the city has to offer. First, we'll explore Seokgul Grotto and Bulguksa temple. Both were designated as UNESCO World Cultural Asset in 1995 as the first in Korea. Seokgul Grotto is well known as one of the masterpieces of Buddhist arts. The Bulguksa Temple is home to many important Buddhist cultural relics and historical treasures that have accumulated throughout its long history. After then, we'll grab lunch and go to the Wolseong district which is a district that has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our first stop there will be the Gyochon cultural village where you can learn about the architecture and lifestyle of the Silla Kingdom. The second stop is the Daereungwon Ancient Tombs. Here, you can examine the unique tomb style and relics from the Silla Kingdom and learn more about how and why it was built. After that, we'll catch the beautiful sunset at Cheomseongdae - the oldest astronomical observatory in Asia, and complete our day at Anapji Pond that was used as a historical banquet site to watch the moonlight reflected in the pond.

Jesse

I'm the founder of a tour company based in Busan but I've also been working as a tour guide for many years all over Korea. One of my favorite cities to show my customers is Gyeongju - which contains 1,000 years of history of the Silla kingdom. Ever since I started my job, I've always looked for a chance to show off Gyeongju to more travelers to teach more people about Korea’s roots and historical background. Therefore, I made this experience with the hope to introduce Gyeongju to Airbnb travelers and teach them more about Korean history and culture. I guarantee that with my affection and knowledge about Gyeongju, you will be an expert in all things Korea after this tour.
