What you'll do
We start on Dam Square, where I will tell you something about this place, where Amsterdam originated. Afterwards a walk along the canal belt and along the De Jordaan district. There I tell you about the architecture, stories behind the canal houses and more. We visit the Begijnhof, the hall of the Amsterdam Museum and then walk towards the Amstel. We end the tour in the old, medieval city center and then walk back to the Dam.
My name is John Groen, born in 1990 north of Amsterdam. As a historian with a MA degree (Master of Arts) in history, my expertise lies in the past 500 years: from 1500 till now. My interest is very broad. I can also you a lot about all kinds of events that are outside of these times or places. As an enthusiastic and passionate guide, I love to teach you about the fascinating history of the Netherlands. This history has many facets and I look forward to take you on a journey through the unique Dutch past and present in Amsterdam. Let me surprise you!
