What you'll do
You will be invited into our luxurious all-weather marquee. Refreshments and pastries will be available upon arrival and throughout the entire day. We provide comfortable seating for all artists, as well as WC/handwashing facilities, and disabled access. All types of visitors can benefit from this workshop, from beginners to advanced artists or people just looking to try something different and make new friends. Most guests start making connections as soon as they arrive. We are also here to break the ice over refreshments and pastries. Then I will introduce you to each llama and show you their distinctly different personalities. You will learn about the origins of llamas, their conformation, fibre, uses and body language which tells us humans a lot about the way the llama is feeling. Guests will then learn from Sarah how to sketch a moving animal and proportions. From easels and chairs/stools either inside the marquee with direct views of the llamas or within the paddocks (depending on the weather). You are able to work at your own pace with as much or as little guidance as you need from Sarah. Lunch is then served, consisting of a traditional cream tea, sandwiches and scones, with fruit and cakes. Continuing with the workshop, you will move on to acrylic or watercolours to complete your masterpiece which is yours to take home at the end of the day.

Hi, I am Tina. I own a herd of 9 llamas... three male and six female. I am a Director on the Board of The British Llama Society, the UK Breed's National Society. I was the editor of its quarterly magazine and I show my llamas at various national agricultural shows. I, therefore, have a lot of knowledge about llamas, their origins, their characters and personalities and how to care for them. I take one of my llamas to food and craft fairs, and to retirement homes to meet the residents. I have hosted these art workshops a couple of times with great success. My co-host is a professional artist, Sarah Madsen. She has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and delivers really fantastic workshops which help people with little or no knowledge of sketching, through to those who are very talented in their own right. We are both experts in our own fields.

Llamas are very timid, gentle, calm animals – they do not spit! Sketching is such a relaxing pastime, and when you throw our cute and fuzzy llama into you are bound to have more fun! If you want to visit on your own that is absolutely no problem, we are always on the lookout for new friends :-)
