Casa Luna is a characterful, rustic, little cottage hidden among the trees on our beautiful and peaceful olive farm. It has solar electricity and hot water, a wood burning stove, living room, kitchen+bathroom with toilet and shower. Guests can also use the natural swimming pool from Easter-Nov, the yurt when not in use for other activities, and are free to wander round. We can also provide you with an organic veg box for 10€,(please order in advance)our eggs, olive oil, olives and home-made bread.
“We stayed for almost three weeks in the Casa Luna cottage in mid and late October. The cottage is located in an excluded corner of the farm. Calm guaranteed. You have a whole part of the farm that you can use as your backyard with wonderful view on the mountains. Also a yoga yurt was available for use if needed and a natural pool to refresh and swim. For those who like to walk, there are little hikes that you can pick up directly from the farm, and other great hikes just a couple of minutes driving away (e.g. hike in Pampaneira or to the Old Mining Village). Kate is a very welcoming host, very responsive to requests. She also provides directly products from her farm, allowing you to live completely excluded from civilization if needed. The nearest supermarket is in Órgiva, a 10 minute drive or a 45 minute walk (there is also an organic supermarket in town). You can park your car in Bayacas town which is a 5 minute walk from the farm (you need to follow a small track to reach the farm). The cottage itself is very well equipped, with a well equipped kitchen, small bathroom, good bed, desk and comfy couch. In the style of the farm, electricity and energy usage has been limited. Keep in mind that there is only one plug in the apartment for phone charging. The shower is heated through a solar panel system, which gives good hot showers at the end of the day on sunny days, less on rainy days. As for us temperatures were going down at the end of October, we were particularly longing for a warm shower but was not always available. In line with the decreasing temperatures, the place is heated by a stove which works well, wood is available at the farm directly. The farm itself has chicken, cats, two donkies, and about 6 volunteers (+Kate) walking around to provide the necessary farm atmosphere :-) The farm is on a hill side by the way, with lots of olive trees and small pathways providing a really back to nature feeling. We were also free to pick pomegranates from the trees that were growing abundantly around us! All in all, we had a very nice back to the roots back to nature experience on Kate’s farm and we highly recommend to all who are seeking a similar experience or for those who just want to live a little excluded from the city :-)”
We are a family with children living on the land of yurts and fruit trees. The space is quiet and peacefull, you can hear sometimes only animals. Perfect for meditaion, yoga, listening to the music...All in organic, eco friendly environment, very close walking distance to the centre of Orgiva. Before booking, please read carefully our full profile.
“The yurt is the most beautiful place I have ever lived. It is warm, spacious, and homey. A perfect place to relax and focus. I spent over a month staying in the yurt and enjoyed studying underneath the olive trees, eating fresh oranges, the beautiful simplicity of the place, how hot the water in the shower got, and the amenities and set up in the kitchen. The yurt has a great sound system and is well lit with beautiful lamps. I love cooking and was able to make delicious meals with the kitchenware provided and additionally there were a few essentials like olive oil, salt, pepper, vinegar, and coffee already on hand. Orgiva is a great town with regular events and activities in the town. The yurt is a 10-15 minute walk to most places in town. Nearby you can run around quiet roads surrounded by orange groves, you can walk (it's a bit of a hike) or drive to surrounding villages and the town is about 1 hour from beaches and the Sierra Nevada park. It is a magical place full of friendly people. Ewa and Moises are incredibly helpful and gracious hosts. They were kind and welcoming. I happened to be staying during the midst of travel bans and the coronavirus and they helped me to get home safely, making sure I would have a ride to the airport, and also reassured me that I would have a place to stay if my travel was canceled. They were so helpful and kind. The place is wonderful. It can get a little noisy at night - the neighbors have a dog that struggles with barking. I was able to use earplugs and put on white noise and was not bothered by it. I would recommend bringing earplugs.”
