All guests and well behaved dogs are welcome for an addition dog fee!
“My husband and I and our two dogs enjoyed a great weekend at Nancy's cabin. The cabin was extremely comfortable and in a great location to enjoy the area. Our dogs loved playing in the small river next to the cabin and running around the yard! Nancy was very friendly! We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the cabin (plenty of floor space to play games and for our big dogs) and by everything included (a microwave, mini fridge, wine opener, etc..).”
The cottage is on a location primarily used as a religious retreat so loud partying is not allowed. People of all races and religions and ethnic backgrounds are welcome.
“This is a great cabin near the Mississippi River! It’s secluded, peaceful, and there’s a lot of space. The deck outside is amazing and it was the perfect one-night stay. John is an excellent host and was very responsive with everything. Highly recommend if you’re searching for some tranquility!”
The Driftless Yurt is located 9 miles NW of Viroqua, WI. Our yurt is nestled in 14 acres of red /white oak, walnut and maples with a valley view of the Bad Axe River. The yurt is 300 sq. ft, comfortably sleeps 4, pet friendly and has a large wrap around deck. We have a wood burning stove, propane cooking stove top, a fully stocked kitchen galley, 8 gallons of drinking / cooking water, propane and fire pit grill, there's an extra deck with picnic table, and composting toilet.
“The Driftless Yurt was everything we were hoping plus MUCH more! We appreciated that our pups could join us for the weekend, the stocked wood supply inside the yurt, as the nights were still chilly and the fully equipped kitchen. Dan has carefully crafted a sustainable and functional off-the-grid hideaway. Waking up to the birds and sunrise was refreshing and sipping our morning coffee on the deck (or at the gorgeous overlook) allowed us to step back and live in a simpler time; if only for a few days. We enjoyed driving through the Driftless region and exploring and fishing on the Mississippi River, visiting Viroqua, sipping some wine on the patio of Vernon Vineyards and buying some delicious goodies at the Amish Bakery. The Amish neighbors were EXTREMELY FRIENDLY and “Tony the Pony” greeted us with every coming and going (on your initial drive in...if you think you are in the wrong place...just keep driving up to the wooden gate that seems like it turns into a field...you are in the correct place!)! We tried some Kickapoo Coffee (they have non-dairy milk and Gluten Free treats too) and got take out brunch from the Co-op (also A LOT of GF & DF options). We had the most relaxing weekend and cannot wait to be back...hopefully in the fall! Thanks to Dan for exposing us to this magical area right here in Wisconsin!”
