If you’re ready to escape the overwhelming demands of day to day life, Newell Lodge and Resort located near the Okefenokee Swamp is the right place for you. Located in rural south Georgia, you’ll find yourself in the middle of nowhere and at the center of every advantage the region has to offer. Everyday activities here may include board games after dinner and picnic, settling down with a book, journal or paints, grilling today’s catch, exploring nature trails or adventuring on horseback.
“This was our second stay here and it was as nice as it was the first time. The cottage is comfy for two people (and there's a second bedroom as well) and perfectly situated for a visit to Okefenokee via the main gate in Folkston. You can't ask for a more serene spot than you can find on the front porch rockers, with the horses across the road, and just watching dusk turn to starry nights in big sky country. We hope to be back one day!”
The Canoe Outpost is perfect for an outdoor adventure or just a quiet getaway. Within minutes from the St. Mary’s River, as well as the Ralph E. Simmons State Forest (4000 acres), the Canoe Outpost offers plenty of rest and relaxation. Canoe, kayak, swim, fish or play on the white sandy beaches where one hour feels like two. Enjoy the lazy river from sunup to sundown.
“Kayla was a great host. She was very responsive with her communication. The place is really cute, the bed is super comfortable and the house has everything you need. My one word to the next guest is know that the shower is a single stall shower. The State Park had some great walking trails nearby and the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge was perfect for a peaceful canoeing or kayaking trip as well as fishing. We found the St. Mary’s River to be mainly for big boats.”
This spectacular house overlooks the Saint Mary's River and is 45 minutes north of Jacksonville, Florida! Absolutely pristine setting, nestled amongst verdant countryside , yet only minutes from the towns of Folkston, Hilliard and Callahan.
“Jay and Teresa have a lovely home. We were in town for a motocross race with our family, as well as celebrating Father’s Day. The deck offers beautiful views of the surrounding nature. We spent most of our time out there. We fished, ate Dinner, did yoga and just hung out enjoying the views on the decks. We hope to be back soon and would highly recommend their home.”
