“We had a short but fabulous stay at Selkies Cottage, a perfect little family getaway. A chic and comfortable space with a million dollar view of the ocean right from the bed! We watched the sunset and the sunrise. We crossed the road to explore the beach with our 14 month old son and he seemed to really enjoy the experience. The Hosts are such lovely down to earth people, very thoughtful and caring and gave us a lot of information, suggestions and tips on places to hike or sights we must see. We will return again for sure. Thanks for hosting us We really enjoyed our time in Twillingate.”
Uncle Ben’s A well-preserved heritage home centrally located in downtown Change Islands (population 200), Uncle Ben’s house overlooks Skinner’s Harbour with a distant view across the water of the hills of Fogo Island. Rugged natural beauty, scenic fishing stages, and the legendary warmth and hospitality of Newfoundlanders combine to make Change Islands a very special place.
“George is a fabulous host who has taken painstaking efforts at restoring Uncle Ben’s house. I very much appreciated all the details of this over-a- century old house. We had everything we needed for our two night stay. The kitchen is well equipped and the parlor very cozy. The bed we used -of two available- was very comfortable. The hikes in the area are some of the best ocean strolls I have ever experienced, both the ruggedness of the Squid Jiggers trail and peacefulness of the Shoreline Trail. They are not to be missed if you love hiking. If you are seeking a special yet different experience, a visit to this charming, small, isolated spot might be what you are looking for.”
Change Islands, NL Its a magical place! Accessible by coastal ferry, time stands still in this beautiful , rugged, historic place. The song Squid Jiggin Grounds was written here and we have icebergs, whales, hiking trails for all levels of hikers, a museum, an interpretation centre, the Change Islands Newfoundland Pony Santuary, the Tickle full of red stages and stores. We are 11.9 kms from the boat. Left hand side of the road. Blue bungalow. Just past the small helipad Orange Windsock
“Our 2 day stay at Dennis and Paula's place was as good as it gets and we've stayed in Airbnb places all over the world. The room was perfect for us. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom and shower were just fine but, what will make your stay on Change Islands even more special, is the hospitality, friendliness and kindness of Paula and Dennis. We were there on my birthday and, after a full day of exploring the island and hiking the beautiful Squid Jiggers trail, we came back to find that Paula had put up birthday decorations, baked a cake and made a fresh cod dinner for us to celebrate my birthday. Their generosity and kindness made my birthday one of the most memorable I have ever had. We fell in love with Change Islands during our brief stay there. It is quaint, picturesque, friendly and very much still a small fishing outport that is delightful to explore. Be sure to visit Pete's Olde Museum too. You'll be entertained beyond your wildest imagination. Our only regret is not having stayed longer. We would love to return and we would stay at Dennis and Paula's place again without any hesitation. Highly recommended!”
