One day, i told my wife: " Lets start a homestay!”, we will have visitors, we will show them Vietnamese life style, share your home and they will bring joy and laughter to our house, it will be fun! – Sound good!, but how can we do it? We can not even know an English word!My wife asked. – We can learn (Not very quick since we are already almost 60 year old) but I believe we can try… My wife did not be convinced at first, but finally she agreed and we started our little homestay.
“We were very worried when we arrived there, we had read some negative comments about the place and a lot about the island of Cham with its hordes of tourists left by the day on the island. Coming to Hai Long, you will find a small fishing village, much less tourists than Bai Lang. The couple are adorable, they go out of their way to please you. The rooms are very basic (no sheets, no towels) but the price of the night is unbeatable. The Mama cuisine has wonders, it is very rich and they always smile! The gentleman took us to see the seabed with mask and snorkel. it was beautiful, beautiful fish and beautiful corals, far from the boats of tourists in speed boat !!! The kids went wrong early in the morning, they feasted and ate the fish at lunch. Toni their son is adorable, he helps them a lot because he speaks English well. He will pick you up at the boat on your arrival (ferry or speed boat). He was very available, very responsive. He found several friends in scooters to take us to a beautiful beach 2 or 3 km away and they came back to get us. We were 9, 2 families with 5 children from 13 to 19 years old. They also loved their time on Cham Island. They went to sing with the Vietnamese in their house ... in short, a real moment of sharing with the locals !!! We highly recommend this place !!!”
My place is close to beach, island , nightlife. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids).
It's my vacation house and when i am not there, i am happy to share with travelers, food and drink are serve next door as my parent lives next door. The house in a really nice location of a small fishing village and only a few walks to the beach, furniture is basic. No air-condition but fan and Mosquito net are available. Please note well: The local authority does NOT allow Chinese, Taiwanese and Hong Kong passport holder to overnight on the island. Thanks for your understanding.
“Incredible experience. Nguyen is an efficient, helpful and very considerate host. Prompt responses and very kind! Our short stay on the island was phenomenal, Mama and Papa look after you like you are their own. They speak limited English but we managed to understand each other anyway! We went snorkeling with Papa- a true fisherman, which was a highlight for our Vietnam trip. The island is very small, no ATM on the island, so bring enough cash with you. Mama cooked all our meals- delicious and very reasonable price. This is a family home, so come ready to experience life in a fishing village and be prepared to share your table with new people. Accommodation is rustic and simple but meets all your needs. Would highly recommend using the speed boat to get to the island, local ferry is marginally cheaper but can take about3 hours and you can be stuck down in the hold with a lot of luggage and passengers who are sea sick! Speed boat is about 20 minutes. Overall, a great experience. Thank you Nguyen!”
