It is called the river home because my house is right on the bank of the river. Its the property and the river, nothing in-between. A perfect place to cleanse and unwind. The home has a mandir. Along with the flower garden, there is a kitchen garden and we grow seasonal vegetables. Indoor games like carom, ludo and cards are there. The place has a hammock and fishing rod for angling. The river and the sky has its own beauty. Looks spectacular in different seasons. A perfect retreat.
“It was my parents' first Airbnb experience on their 40th Wedding Anniversary, and the one-night stay was more than perfect. Our group included a 4 year old child. THE PLACE: We drove down from Kolkata and reached the place very easily (the lane opposite the 300 years old Tamarind Tree), parked our cars without worry, walked into a dream of a bungalow, and were overwhelmed by the hospitality (superlatively attentive) by the caretakers there that never wavered. Once inside, the river stares right back at you, and it is the most calming backdrop. The flower-and-kitchen-garden is beautifully maintained, and there is a "Glass Room" near the wall (atop which is the view-point terrace in the pictures), which catches you by total surprise. We spend an unexpectedly long time in that room: it's designed to help you unwind completely. The whole place is designed very, very well, for 4 people, with some space to spare. THE INTERIOR: The rooms, like the rest of the property, is very tastefully done up, leaving close to nothing for you to ask for. Wi-Fi is fast, the bathrooms literally sparkling clean and spacious, and the open air dining area opposite the living quarters, with a full view of the garden, doubles as an activity area, including a small hammock! THE EXPERIENCE: To wake up at sunrise, walk out into the tiled and stone-laid garden, and walk up to that gate as the river sits in front of you, boats gliding along it and the wind blowing in your face, is one of the most calming feelings you can get, especially if you are from the city. The air is clean, and the surroundings quiet. THE FOOD: Cooked to perfection. We wanted not too oily or spicy, and we got the best of home cooked food. The portions were more than generous, the caretaker staff dote on you while they serve you the food, and the menu was discussed and locked more than a week prior, so we didn't have to invest a single brain-cell to decide what to eat. Even the evening snacks, which seemed to appear automatically, were delicious! THE HOST: Right from the first contact, Aveek had been super helpful in terms of accommodating our somewhat-demanding requirements, being in constant touch throughout, sending forth navigation and stay details without ever being prompted, and answering every single query. A few days before we were about to set off, we already knew that every arrangement possible had already been made. Thanks to him, we had true peace of mind. Thank you so much, Aveek!”
Leisure By the River - As the name suggest it is exactly a place to unwind yourself to become one with the nature. Our Farmhouse is an hour drive from the city where you can have a peaceful weekend enjoying the beauty of nature in its true essence - do farming if you like, Enjoy the river bed and forget yourself on the banks of Ganga.. Or Just Relax. It is a place where you will fall in love with the Nature. An in-house manager will help you with whatever you require.
“Amidst a plethora of flora and fauna, a pond full of geese, and many a cute, friendly doggies, is nestled this gem of a farmhouse. True to its organic flavor, the place offers the right balance of earthiness and modernity. For no-fuss, solitude-seeking travelers like myself, this is a great place to unwind and do exactly what you wish to do. As the description states, the property sprawls across quite a few acres. With vegetation all around, chances are that you may not readily find this place upon arrival. However, Praloy, the very friendly and efficient handyman will help you locate it. The river is right across the street, making the place cool and breezy. The barn, the temple, and the thakur dalan are added attractions of the place. The village too is quaint and laidback with locals primarily workers at the brick kilns and fishermen. Late afternoon strolls/rides by the bank offer great scenery and beautiful sunsets. The food deserves a special mention here. Boudi treated us to some great food over the couple of days that we were there. Homely, Bengali food at its best. To be honest, I haven't had such lovely aloo posto, moong daal, and chingri maachher chorchori even at fine diners in Kolkata. It surprised me pleasantly. The rooms are spacious, well-equipped, and well-stocked. However, they can do with a new aircon. The one currently installed there is old and inadequate for room so big. Another thing that may bother some (didn't bother me one bit though) is lack of mobile network and internet connectivity. If you're looking for a longish stay, you better have an Airtel connection and some good fortune. But, if you take my word for it, you're better off without it while you enjoy the nature around you. Thank you Divya (a very efficient host), Sudip (the quintessential owner who is also a brilliant singer), Praloy (the go-to guy), and Boudi (what a cook!) for making our stay a pleasantly memorable one. Look forward to keep going back. Cheers!”
