Staying with Misuzu in her beautiful home was the most memorable & magical airbnb experience I've ever had. It was also one of the most memorable stays during our travel throughout Japan. Upon entering the space- the smell of the incense, the scent of tatami, the beautifully detailed woodwork and inner & outer shoji screens instantly transported me into another world of magic and history. I would have loved to draw up her home if only I had the time. Everything had its place and Misuzu was so warm, welcoming, & sweet. She served us hot green tea upon our arrival and gave us some wonderful suggestions of shrines to visit including directions. She let us use her bicycles and we had a wonderful ride through the streets and alleyways of Kyoto! We slept on futon on the tatami mats - traditional Japanese style. The heater in the room worked very well and kept us nice and toasty. Robert and I loved the breakfast, the hand-drawn directions for heater and toilet, and the outdoor garden!! I got really sick one night and Misuzu was so kind - gave me some medicine and hot packs for my back to keep me warm. I definately felt taken care of. We had some trouble finding her home when we arrived, but it was no problem because her neighbors were very helpful and walked us to her front door. She gifted us with some sweet little gifts as we departed - I was sad to leave!! Thank you Misuzu for such a wonderful experience. I would surely stay here again on our next visit to Kyoto.
