For recreation there is hiking in the valley and nearby conservancy areas, biking on country roads, or cross-country, downhill or snowshoeing during the snowy months. Hawthorne is a 2-hour drive from NYC or a 2-hour Amtrak ride from Penn Station to Hudson, and then a 20 minute drive by car or taxi. The house is conveniently close to the Taconic Parkway, while set in a peaceful and quiet valley.

Welcome to your Hudson getaway! This bright, open-plan retreat features a cozy living area with a double-sided fireplace, a serene bedroom overlooking the garden, and a loft with a comfy sleeper sofa. Owl's Nest (Rip's Retreat)

Screened in porch. 5 minute drive to Hudson. Co-host lives in the basement level of the house, accessed by a separate entrance, and may access that area during your stay. We are just down the road from Indian Head Wilderness in Catskill Park, and very close to Kaaterskill Wild Forest.
